day four of college!

Today was sooo crazy! haha Elaine and Paige said it's really cool that I've been doing all the activities, Elaine feels so lazy compared to me haha. But I mean I wanna make friends, I don't wanna gave no one to hang out wit or whatever.
I'm not remembering half the people, and even less the names but still. And it's weird cuz I mean out of a total of 2,402 freshies you'd think I wouldn't run into the same people much but I keep seeing the same people! Weirddddd I guess they're all just stalking me cuz they realized how awesome I am.

So today started out I woke up at 10:30ish and took a shower. Neither Elaine or Paige were up to the Exploring Towson, Back to School Rally- basically walk to the Towson Town Center Mall and get a bag of coupons and stuff. It started at noon, and I left the tower at like 11:20. I asked the guy at the front desk for rough directions, and he gave me them, saying that they weren't very good but I thanked him anyways cuz I only remembered the first three things he said haha. So I made it to the part I last remembered and there was not a single person around I could ask for further directions.
I walked around for the next ten minutes in a circleish way, and finally saw a group of girls wayy ahead of me. They stopped under the bus stop and I was able to catch up and ask if they knew where it was. They said they were actually going to it, and said I could join them. Yay! So we walked there together, and I'm telling you it is a MUCH longer walk than I expected. But I talked to them and made more friends. But I don't remember any names :( oh well But it was cool, and I hung out with them and walked back with them. By the time I got back to my room it was 3:50 and I just had time to stop in before running out to find Burdick Field for the Get Rec'd at the Campus Recreation Field Day.
I get into the elevator and Chris and another guy get on, along with a few other people and he asks if anyone's going to the thing and I was like yea, I am. So we get outta the elevator and he's like, "Nicole, right?" and I said yea. I asked them if they know where the field is and they don't know so we go to a map, Steve introduces himself, and we start heading to where we think it is, but still not sure. I ask a group of three people as we pass if they know where it is, and they point us in the right direction, the opposite way we were going, to the field infront of the union. We get there and split up, I head to the table and I find the people in charge of the intermural sports and sign up for info on dodgeball, soccer, surf, and then I signed up for notifications for the outdoor adventure things; the same people from yesterday with the kayaking and stuff. Then I signed up for the frozen t-shirt contest.

I played frisbee with a group for a few minutes until the contest started. There were ten of us total and they had ten tshirts folded up and frozen to hell. We had to thaw it out and put it on; the first person to do so would win. So we were going at it, I was hugging it and putting it between my legs and on my back trying to melt it, when the people said that we could have partners to help us. I looked up and called out for help, asking the whole crowd watching us if they would lend a hand. No one did, and a group of passing football looking guys I asked too, but they just walked by.
I called for help again, and finally some guy came over and started helping me. Then his one girl friend came and began helping and then a girl that i was playing frisbee with came and started helping too. We were soooo close, but we didn't win, the only guy who was in the contest won :( but it was fun. From there I did the dodgeball, and realized one guy, Dan, was from the Challenge by Choice and apparently I picked the wrong side to be on cuz we kept losing. But for the first two games, I was the last person in on my side which was surprising cuz there were alot of guys on my team. There was even one guy who caught two balls thrown at him simultaneously! That was awesome. I thought I did not so well, but then once it was over the one guy who was like the ref/leader said I did really good and I should think about joining the dodgeball games. yay! :D

We were supposed to do kickball too, but we played dodgeball for too long and went onto the relay races next. As they set it up, the frisbee tshirt helping girl named Scotty asked if I wanted to play the bean bag toss till it started. We did, and when everyone went to crowd around the relay thing I went to look on. Then this girl came up and asked if I wanted to do it with her cuz her partner backed out so I said yea. I had to do five head spins with the baseball bat, then run to second base get in a bag and jump in it to my partner who I would tag and she would take a dodgeball, put it between her legs and run like that to 4th base where they would take a spoon and egg and balance it to the finish. We came in third.
I was soooo dizzy after the spinning I ran in a giant curved line haha. But it ended, I didn't win any of the raffles, and headed back to my room. I got there, sat for five minutes, exhausted, and then Elaine came in at like 6:20 and asked if I wanted to join her and Kate to the concert. So I ran out with her and we got to the concert like two minutes before it began. Elaine brought her blanket with her so the three of us sat on it together. I couldn't remember what Graham Colton sang, but his name sounded familiar. He was really great on stage and at his last song I realized that's the song I knew him from. He sings Best Days.

The girls in back of us, like two songs in held up a sign and he asked what the sign said and they yelled out "BE OUR FRIEND!" He was like "Sure, I'd love to be friends. In real life or like on twitter?" and they said real life and he said good, that's what he was hoping for. He said we all have to facebook friend him. Then he finished and I went to buy his CD, and he said it was kinda cheesy but he'd be by the table so we should talk to him. So like I was the sixth person to meet him and he signed my CD, and signed Elaine's. He said between ours that we really gotta facebook him, and he wrote on hers "Elaine, Facebook pleeeeeeeease" and he underlined please 3 times lol. The people who were on after him were crappy. Tons of people left during them. We saw Graham leave, and left like two minutes after at 8:30. We got back to the room and chilled. We just had the like 5 minute floor meeting, and tomorrow is the first day of classes. Yikes! I hope all goes well.

Day three, part 2 (update)

update on 3rd day of college.
So Elaine and I went downstairs to meet her friend and roomie so we could all go to see the comic and magician Michael Kent together. When we meet I realize that her roomie is none other than Kate, one of the girls from the Challenge by Choice today! So that was pretty cool, we talked on the way over to the union and she said she's part of the group thingie and said I should talk to her if I wanna join in.
We get to the thing and it's like three minutes before it's supposed to start and we find third row seats to the left of stage. Then two more people that Kate knows come, and one of them is Jen! wow I felt like I knew everyone lol :)

The thing starts, and it's sooooooo great! He gets up there and says he can predict the future. So he has someone think of a four legged animal, and draws on his white board. He flips it to show a really badly drawn vague 4 legged animal. He then asks someone to think of a celebrity, and he comes with a smiley face. Then asks the same girl for a sport, she says basketball and he shows the smiley with its face erased. He asks her for another sport and she says horseback riding. He pauses and then says "That's the ring the horses ride around. You almost got me there" Then he goes to this guy Ben in the crowd and tells him to think of a color. He puts the board down and says that he's so confident that he's right, he doesn't want to persuade Ben to a specific color (he takes out a yellow kerchif and slowly wipes his forehead) and that he shouldn't yellow-ut the color. So then he asks Ben for the color and Ben says red. Michael stops, stares at him and is like "You are a dick. Ben you are a dick. You couldn't have gone with it, huh?" So then he takes the board and turns it around and it says on it "BEN IS A DICK"
He does a glass trick with four paper bags, he did the string trick but really long, he got a girl to blow up a condom to see if she'd do it, got her card into an egg inside a rubber chicken she was holding, he shredded a 20 bill then it appeared in a box in a box in a box in a box from earlier, he showed us how to make someone anal about their house go nuts, he did ESPNOWVIP- sooo cool! He writes that on the board, then "throws' cards out to the audience, a girl 'catches' them and she gets rid of the black suits. She throws them behind her and Ladi gets them and puts the hearts into her pocket. She throws them to her right and the girl separates them into groups of 2-4, 5-7, 8-10, and letters, then puts the high and the low groups into her mouth and swallows the low. When they exit her body she puts her hands on 2 an 4. What is left out of 53 cards is the three of diamonds. And what does ESPNOWVIP look like upside down? DIAMONDS 3! And then he did a really awesome bottle and glass appear out of two red tubes thing. He started with one of each and ended up with a tableful of bottles!

So after him we went downstairs to the casino night, and I stopped at the first table which was five card stud. I sat down at the table when there were two other players, Mason and a red-haired girl. Bit different than I'm used to, but I got a hold of it quickly and I deff picked the best place- we just kept winning and winning. More people joined as time went on, but most left once they found out it wasn't texas hold'em. We did have a full table of 7 tho, and at one point pretty early I got dealt a 9 10 J Q K. OMG! I went all in! A 4:1 ratio gave me about 80,000 in winnings! OMGGGG. White was 1,000 red was 5,000 blue was 50,000 and green was 100,000. Earlier on Mason asked if Sam (guy dealer) thought he'd be giving out greens an Sam said he'd like to see that. Mason soon won big and got a green. Eventually two others got one and two greens. Then all of a sudden Mason went all in- including his green- he had four queens!!!! That's a 20:1 ratio!!! He got 2,940,000!!!!!!!!!
Time went by too quickly and before I knew it it was the last game. Sam said that Mason easily left with at least four million. Shit mann! So you trade in your money, apparently 25,000 for a ticket I think, and I got nine tickets. There was the raffle then, and I put in but didn't win anything- and really surprising, neither did Mason. Wow. It was so funny tho cuz we had to stop gameplay for like 10 min b/c Sam didn't have enough chips to pay Mason out. He took one of the chip holders out to carry all his winnings in when he went to cash lol. And Mason was generous, he gave us each at the table a blue one! haha high roller.
But apparently he was also at the comedy show of the girl that we went to yesterday because he was the guy she wouldn't report even if he date raped her. And he's gonna be a male nurse. Cool. So tired now. Elaine was surprised that I can play poker. Gonna go sleep. TTYL

Third day of college.

day three at college.
This morning my roomies didn't want to go to the required New Student Conference. So I was kinda worried no one in my orientation group was gonna show up because I know everyone was saying it really wasn't mandatory, they just said it so people would go. (we were supposed to meet our groups and walk there together) I got at our meeting spot and seriously like everyone except one or two people from our group was there (like at least 30 ppl). The thing was actually pretty awesome and funny. Really funny. Her name was Bertice Berry, she's a black woman who's like written a bunch of books.
She said this one time she was gonna take a plane and when they called first class to get on first, this white guy pushed her back and said "This is for first class only" She let it slide and lo and behold his seat was right next to hers. They were on a flight from San Diego to Miami and she sang as many negro soul songs that she could remember the whole way. hahaha And she said that her son (she adopted 5 kids) said that she should get a blackberry so she could text him. She said that she is black and her last name is berry, why should she get a phone that states it? haha
So then I got back to my room at about 12 an both my roomies were still in bed! But they got up, pretty shocked it was already 12, and we all went out to eat at the newell dining. It was actually really good- it's buffet like glen, but the food is better. Elaine and I headed over to the conference sessions and opportunities thing in the union but headed out pretty quick cuz nothing was really going on. The one thing I really wanted to go to didn't start till 3, we'd missed the one at 1. It was like 1:30 then, so we headed back, her going to another friend's dorm and myself to the room. I chilled, called mom, then went out alone to the meeting place for Challenge by Choice.
they had it going on today listed on the conference sessions and opportunities paper. It's description was basically (and i'm giving the abridged version) "How far would you go? Come spend the afternoon stepping outside your personal comfort zone while connecting with fellow tigers at TU's Challenge course. ...activities and initiatives designed to challenge everyone mentally and physically while strengthening the group as a whole."
I went to the meeting place, signed up, and we were led into the woods beneath the bridge to a clearing where we did a bunch of fun games and activities. We did a name game thing where we all were in a tight circle with our hands up like we wanted high fives, and the person in the middle would have to slap the person's hands whose name had been called out before they called out another name. Poor Chris kept getting stuck in the middle, so then we moved onto another game. We were split into two teams and played Alaskan Baseball. Basically we threw the little pig thing as far as we could. Then we huddled into as tight a circle as possible so the person who threw it could run in circles around us, while the other team ran to it, got in a line one behind another and passed it to the person in back of them, passing over head then under legs then over head etc till the last person. The last person then threw it as far as the opposite team as possible and it starts from the top. First group to fifty won. My group won. YAY!

We did this acid river game that was pretty challenging, The leaders set up noodles marking each end of the bank on the ground, and we got five wooden blocks, maybe a foot wide, and had to bring everyone, 13 people, across to the other bank without falling into the river. If you let go of a block for not even a second it would 'float away' and we would lose it. If someone fell off, they'd get blindfolded and had to go back to the start. We had two people fall in and get blindfolded, but we kept losing blocks so we made deals with the leaders, such as a person being blindfolded for another block, the one girl on the safe bank to stop talking for a block (she was giving good directions, but she signed from then on lol), and then there were two guys who were basically on the river the whole time guiding people across and so we got the bank lowered by ten feet (bout half way) when they both got off. In the end, everyone got across.
The leaders said there's kyacking in the pool on wednesdays, rock climbing and a bunch of activities so I'm deff gonna look this group up. I got back to my building and the one elevator was still broken down and the working one just got filled, so I decided to try the stairs to see how bad they are. Jen, one of the girls from the activities, was behind me so we walked up the stairs together and talked a bit. She got off at 12, and by the time I reached 14 my legs didn't want to work anymore haha.
I thought this kid Dan was really cute, but idk his last name. Hopefully I'll run into him with more of these kinda activities? And I can't remember if it was Evan or Ian. I think Evan. He was cute. They were the two dudes on the river. Uhh names... there was Ashley, Garland or something, Allie, Steph, Jen, Kate, Kristen, Chris, Jasmine, and three girls I can't remember names to. Danny, Michelle, Daniel, and the main leader girl I can't recall.

So tonight there's the comedian, magician and smartass Michael Kent, and the Casino night, so I'm pretty psyched for those. The Challenge thing helped me today to realize that I can go to activities and have fun without knowing anyone originally. Yay. So maybe update later? Till then, TTYL

Second day in college

Okay so today is my second day in college, and I am WIPED OUT.
I woke up at 7:30 to go eat breakfast with my parents and sister. From there I went back up to my room (which is on the 14th floor btw) to get the hummer keys and coming back down I shared the elevator with a bunch of people who were going to orientation. One girl asked if anyone was going to Lithruhmfdgksg hall and I got excited cuz neither of my roomies were going there. A cute guy in the elevator was going too, so once I hugged my family goodbye for the last time we started walking to where we thought it would be. The guy lagged behind with someone else and then I lost the girl once we actually got into the building, but at least we got there. I found my way to room 314 (floor 3, duh) and walked in. It was major awkard for the first five seconds cuz those already there looked up and stared at me. I choose a seat with an empty slot on both sides and was upset to find that the seats are geared for righties. People filed in and I found myself flanked by guys. The one on my left was cute, Curtis, and the one on the right was friendly and nice, Nick (we'll use R cuz he had a lip ring). I saw that Nick (elevator nick, now known as Nick E) was also in the room, like 5 seats from me. There was also this dude who totally looked like the one guy from FND films on youtube, Aaron Fronk. His name was Brent Fox though.
So like the first icebreaker game thing we did was the girl, Caitlyn, put post-it notes on each of our foreheads with names of famous people or characters. We were supposed to turn to others around us and ask yes or no questions so we could guess who we are. Nick E was Justin Timberlake, I found it kinda funny a black guy got Obama. Curtis was Lindsey Lohan, and Bethany was Mickey Mouse, tho she was like the last person to figure theirs out. So I turned to my right and asked questions and answered with Nick R. We kinda cheated though, cuz we both forgot at first it was yes or no only. But we were like who cares. He was anti-twilight too. I figured mine first, I was a MAN, I was fictional, I had one weakness (he thought I'd get it at this point) and I wore tights when I wasn't wearing glasses. Superman!
Nick R was a man, he was fictional, very old, no weakness really, (he didn't know what to ask so I told him to ask what he wears) wears red and white, heavy, (still doesn't get it; I'd just gotten mine at this point and he told me to just give him hints) he brings joy to a lot of kids, we don't see him much, only once a year. Finally he got it, Santa Claus.
So then we did talking with stuff blah blah blah and broke for lunch. I came back to the dorm cuz I'd eaten breakfast and only can have two meals a day. I chilled in my room for a bit, and when Elaine got back from eating we decided to head out together. When I was putting my shoes on she was like "it's gonna rain" and I said it'd prolly pour the moment we got outside. Well we get out of the elevator and it is POURING outside. great. I get to the building again, soaked through. We did a beach ball name game thing and I was in the finalists. Cory was in the group too, he was pretty cute. He's in a band that does Jonas Brothers covers and they just signed a record deal thing.
Then we did more talking and then headed over to the con-something or other. Boringggg it's supposed to be like a graduation, but like to intro you? Weird yea. Now I'm back in my room, chilling. Soooo cold. Still damp. The three of us are chilling in here, I think we're going out later to one of the two events tonight? Elaine and Paige are really nice, I lucked out with nice roomies lol God I'm so tired.
So today I learned that I don't like being my midgets my age because I feel bad for having taller genes, I overheard a girl say a bat flew into her room the other day and she was really excited, and I had a guy tell me three times that he loves me.

See? I'm horrible with this. So instead of writing about my infinitely boring life right now, I'll post a short work I managed back on July 14th.

the sound of bells woke her from her sleep. she rubbed her crusted eyes and moaned to an empty room. the sunlight drifted through the moth eaten curtains that drifted lazily as each new breeze ran its way into the small and almost barren room. except for the bed, a plain dresser and a desk holding two photos and a laptop the room was completely undecorated. a tight door led to an even tighter bathroom that not two people could fit in at once. the bathroom mirror was surprisingly bright and vibrant compared with the rest of the small living area. the edges have been covered with various sticky notes; numerous colors, torn and new, written on and clean, stacked over another and another the sticky notes are a collection years in the making. she stretches her arms out and cracks the sleep from her neck. bare feet stepping onto the not so cold wooden floor she slowly makes her way to the desk and turns the laptop on. the old computer model with a dented side and scratched screen bleeps angrily, complaining about being woken up so early on a saturday. absentmindedly she gives the right side of the screen a whack and it ceases its whine and begins humming properly. her eyes wander to one of the two pictures. one is placed on either side of the computer's screen, the one on the right in a black frame and the one on the left and silver and orange metal frame. her fingers reach out and caress the male face that smiles back at her from the left frame. his smile works it way into her and without realizing it she starts to mimic his truly genuine grin. the computer beeps quickly and she jumps out of her daze. entering her password her eyes drift to the other frame and she shakes her head. "I'm only human," she says, trying to make a point to one of the two faces that look up at her. The screen finishes loading and she starts up her program, forgetting about the two photos and their echoing words.
